The 17th annual Windfire Music Festival - Music at the Basilica

It was my pleasure to play as part of the Free at Five series, on Friday 9th October at the Basilica. I took three harps along to represent nearly a thousand years of harp history. The 12th Century Gothic harp, the lever harp, and the pedal harp gave a lovely cross-section of medieval European sacred and secular music, traditional Celtic folk from all over the British Isles, a modern Haiku and some mellow meditative music. I had so much to play and say that I ran over by ten minutes! Nobody seemed to mind. The audience were wonderful, the acoustics just lovely, and the chapel was packed - extra seats were put in the aisle and late arrivals sat in the closest pews of the main church. What an experience. Maybe next year I'll be asked to take part again, in what will then be the 18th annual Windfire Music Festival.
